Career opportunities
Since the AMI Orientation Course certificates (and the AMI courses) are not recognised by the Dutch government, the AMI certificate solely does not allow graduates to work with children in a day-care or school in the Netherlands. However, students that already obtained (for example) a nursery teacher’s diploma or a bachelor of education can use the AMI certificate as a supplement. Some (Montessori) schools in the Netherlands and some (Montessori) schools abroad acknowledge the quality of the AMI certificates and prefer teachers who have the AMI certificate in addition to their regular teaching diploma.
From our experience we know that graduates also find employment working with socially disadvantaged children, family support and children with particular special learning needs.
Level of the course
Although the course is not recognized by the Dutch government, the estimated level of the course is Higher Vocational Education.
We require a high motivation and a minimum age of 18 years at the start of the orientation course. We assume basic study skills and sufficient mastery of the English language (when we do not work with a translator for another language).
Exemption policy
It is not possible to be exempted for certain parts of the course.
