Since the AMI diploma (and the AMI courses) are not recognised by the Dutch government, the AMI diploma solely does not allow graduates to work with children in a day-care or school in the Netherlands. However, students that already obtained (for example) a nursery teacher’s diploma or a bachelor of education can use the AMI diploma as a supplement. Some (Montessori) schools in the Netherlands and some (Montessori) schools abroad acknowledge the quality of the AMI diploma’s and prefer teachers who have the AMI diploma in addition to their regular teaching diploma.
From our experience we know that graduates also find employment working with socially disadvantaged children, family support and children with particular special learning needs.
Level of the course
Although the course is not recognized by the Dutch government, the estimated level of the course is Higher Vocational Education.
It is not possible to be exempted for certain parts of the course.
Our trainer for the 6-12 Diploma course is Bo Mynett.
Bo Mynett is an AMI 6-12 Auxilary Trainer with 12 years of experience in the field of education, working with both children and adults. She has been working as an Elementary Montessori guide in the United States (San Mateo) as well as in the Netherlands at Casa Bilingual Montessori School, where she returned as a guide in the Elementary after two years of Training for Trainers in Bergamo, Italy, under the guidance of Baiba Krumins Grazzini. She is now participating in the Seminar Format for Elementary Trainers as well.
In her spare time she rides her horse and she makes materials for her classroom.
Since this will be Bo’s first AMI diploma course she will be mentored by Cordula Arana Lehrer an experienced AMI 6-12 trainer (more information will come).
