An in-depth study of Montessori pedagogy focusing on the developmental needs of children from three to six years of age.

New AMI 3-6 Course (2019-2020)- Dates and modules

Module 1: 30th of September (2019) – 18th of October (2019)

Module 2: 6th of January (2020) – 14th February (2020)

Module 3: 30th of March (2020) – 8th of May (2020)

Module 4: 21st of September (2020) – 23rd of October (2020)

The course covers

• The Montessori Philosophy, Psychology and Child Development
• The Child’s Acquisition of Fundamental Learning Skills
• The Development and Education of the Senses
• Language and Literacy
• Mathematics
• Montessori Materials and their Role in Assisting Child Development
• The Critical Role of Observation
• Montessori Professional Experience
• Educational Theory and Practice

Qualification Delivery

At least 400 hours of classroom-based training including lectures, a minimum of 140 hours of supervised practice with Montessori materials and 170 hours of observation and teaching practicum in Montessori settings.

Level of the course:
Although the course is not recognized by the Dutch government, the estimated level of the course is Higher Education.

Target group and entry requirements:
The AMI 3-6 course is for everyone who is interested in the Montessori Pedagogy for children from the age of 3 to 6. Mostly teachers in (Montessori) schools are interested. We require a high motivation, demonstrable study skills and a minimum age of 18 years at the start of the course. Relevant work experience is also taken into account. We assume basic study skills and sufficient mastery of the English language (when we do not work with a translator for another language).

Exemption policy
It is not possible to be exempted for certain parts of the course.

AMI Montessori Diploma course applicants are required to provide the following with their application:
• Current resume
• Certified copies of all academic transcripts
• Signed reference letter
• Short motivation letter, written in the applicant’s own words
• Fill out the required application forms
• Successful application interview
